30 de Noviembre.- Querida Ainara: sólo he estado una vez en el Valle de los Caidos. Fue a principios de los ochenta y creo recordar que debía de ser un poco más mayor de lo que tú eres ahora (seis o siete años, tendría yo; tu padre, dos menos).
Tengo el recuerdo confuso del seat 124 de tu bisabuelo rodando majestuosamente por una carretera que serpenteaba entre negros pinares y ha quedado en mi memoria el eco de mis pasos infantiles en el interior de la basílica, un lugar que, ya entonces, me pareció un sitio desangelado y triste (ahora que lo pienso, quizá porque el estilo arquitectónico del monumento es tan parecido a ese engendro que son los Nuevos Ministerios de Madrid, uno de los conjuntos arquitectónicos que más grima me dan en el Universo).
